Meet Up & Make a Difference

Meet Up & Make a Difference is a positive impact campaign led by Meet Cambridge, involving the events community: clients, venues and suppliers to raise funds and supplies for those in need in our city.

As with many cities in the UK, Cambridge is not immune to food poverty. In the city itself, there are many people in crisis and the Cambridge City Foodbank and Cambridge Sustainable Food CIC are reporting a greater demand than ever before for their services. We believe that our industry is in a position to help.

Help Us To Get Food To Where It's Most Needed

We have pledged to support two Cambridge-based organisations: Cambridge City Food Bank and Cambridge Sustainable Food CIC by raising funds so that they can continue their vitally important food justice work. This includes distributing surplus/donated food to low-income people through community food projects, cooking for the holiday hunger programme and other initiatives such as cookery workshops for people transitioning from homelessness.

Over 50 of our venues are supporting the campaign and we're calling on all event organisers to get involved too.

Meet Up and Make a Difference

Your Event Can Support Meet Up & Make a Difference

Your event can have a positive impact on those in crisis right here in Cambridge. By supporting the Meet Up & Make a Difference campaign at your event, you can raise funds to help people in our communities who are struggling.

We know that every event is different and we're suggesting a variety of ways that you can help...

Pass on the Pastries

Do delegates need another breakfast on arrival at your event?  They've probably eaten at home or in their hotel before arriving. Could you choose to 'pass' on the pasties and donate the cost to Meet Up & Make a Difference instead? Not only would you raise funds but also reduce the food waste at your event!

Host a Foodbank Collection

Ask delegates to bring an item of food to your event when they arrive. The donations will soon mount up and everything will be gratefully received by Cambridge City Foodbank for onward distribution to those in need here in Cambridge. Please note you will need to deliver the donations to the Foodbank. See collection points here.

Add a Fourth Course

If you are hosting a lunch or a dinner, why not add a 'fourth course' to your menu by way of a QR code to encourage delegates to make a donation to the Meet Up & Make a Difference campaign whilst they're enjoying a lunch or a dinner here in Cambridge.

The funds will go directly to Cambridge Sustainable Food CIC which urgently needs to raise funds to continue its work distributing food to people who desperately need it right here in Cambridge.

If it's easier for you, you could support Meet Up & Make a Difference by making a one-off donation or you could also add a QR code to your registration confirmations to encourage delegates to donate too.  The funds will go directly to Cambridge Sustainable Food CIC which urgently needs to raise funds to continue its work distributing food to people who desperately need it right here in Cambridge.

Remember to tell your delegates and stakeholders about your involvement!
